SHINE SURVIVOR '06

We would love to spread our wings a bit in
2006 by doing 2 identical conferences; one in Kewanee and then another one
somewhere further away. Maybe
This month's words of wisdom
come from Madelyn Forbis, a

Praise team singer!
Words to Live By
By Madelyn Forbis
RUNNING LATE AGAIN!!!
"Lexi help me
find my car keys, Tori do you have your book bag?? Connor you must wear socks
today, its 10 degrees outside! Katie?? Has anyone seen the baby?"
Typically most
mornings at the Forbis house begin this way, as we scatter to the car and rush
to the schools I feel like I've forgotten something again. Then on my way home
it dawns on me...once again I forgot to pray with my children. Sometimes I just
wish I could put a invisible force field around them
to keep them safe from harms way. Than I remember reading in Ephesians 6 about
putting on the full armor of God. Ephesians 6:10 "A final word: be strong
with the Lord's mighty power: Put on all God's armor so that you will be able
to stand firm against all the strategies and tricks from the devil..." We
need to teach our children to --verse 17 "Stand your ground, putting on
the sturdy belt of truth and the body armor of God's righteousness." verse
15 "for shoes, put on the peace that comes from the Good News, so that you
will be fully prepared..." verse 16 "In every battle you will need
faith as your shield to stop the fiery arrows aimed at you by Satan."
verse 17 "Put on salvation as your helmet, and take the sword of the
spirit, which is the word of God ..."
So many times I
send my little soldiers out the door in the morning with already wounded hearts
caused by my own actions and words. When they get to school it’s a entirely different war zone. Foul language, bullies. Tired
teachers and a work load sometimes too much for them to understand. And I
haven't even mentioned yet the peer pressure. So to me sending them to school in the morning not covered in prayer and love
is like sending them into a war zone without a gun. Its
our responsibility as parents to cover them and to teach them God's word.
So how about it? Will you take the challenge to increase your efforts by bathing your kids in prayer? Let me know how it goes.
