Forbis, Maddie
|
Maddie has been married to her husband Arthur for 23 years and has four wonderful kids. Lexi (19), Tori (16), Connor (14) and Katie (5)! Maddie says, "I have had a relationship with Jesus Christ for almost twelve years and wonder honestly how I ever survived in this world without him before that. Maddie says her life verse comes from Matthew chapter 6 verse 25 and says, 'Do not worry about tomorrow as today has enough worries of its own.' Maddie says she has been with SHINE from the very beginning and loves to serve the Lord where He leads her! |

Graham, Marla
|
Marla is the busy mother of four (ages 15,14, 12,
10) and wife to her wonderful husband and Pastor, Jerry. They
will celebrate 17 years together this coming May and Marla says,
"besides Jesus Christ, he is the love of my life."
The Graham's have a new addition to their household, 2-year-old
niece Skyler. Marla is
currently a full time junior high teacher at an alternative
school as well as continuing to work on (or, she says, at least
dream about) her writing career! She has been a believer since
she was 9 years old but really came to understand the depth of
Christ's love while on a mission trip to Japan at the age of
20. Some of her favorite verses include: Jeremiah 29:11 'I know
the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper
you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.'
Psalm 139- the whole chapter but especially the closing verses,
'Search me Oh God and know my heart, test me and know my anxious
thoughts, see if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me
in the way everlasting.' and Joseph's words to his brothers in
the last chapter of Genesis verse 20, 'You intended to harm me,
but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being
done, the saving of many lives.' Marla says, "There are so many
others but I will stop at those!"

Graham, Myrah |
Myrah is the oldest daughter of Shine's founder, Marla Graham.
She brings a youthful perspective to the team and loads of joy
as well! We love having Myrah on the team as she gives us the
opportunity to train the next generation of leaders! Myrah
loves playing almost any sport, but especially soccer and
basketball. She enjoys reading and playing piano and clarinet.
She also likes the Green Bay Packers but we won't hold that
against her!

Hicks, Sandy
|
Sandy and her husband Egan have been married for 19 years and have 3 children ( ages 17, 14, and 11 ). Sandy is currently working full time as an Occupational Therapist Assistant in the area schools where she enjoys working with children with a range of disabilities. Sandy says " As a child I knew about God by going to church and through a childhood friend. It was only about 10 years ago when I was going through a very hard time in my life that I truly understood the difference of knowing God and having a relationship with him. I do not know how I got through life without this relationship with him." Some of her favorite Bible verses include Psalm 28:7 "The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in him and I am helped" as well as, Proverbs 3:5-6 " Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding in all your ways acknowledge him and he will make your path straight.' It has been a blessing in my life to be part of the Shine Committee and to share life with each other as God intended it to be.Sandy joined Shine in 2004.

Pinter, Julie |
Julie lives in Princeton with her husband Jim. They have 4
boys, Justin, 22, Jonathan, 20, Jensen, 17, and Jayden, 9, as
well as a cat, Jordan and a beagle named Jake. They also have a
son in Africa, Javious, and although he does not live with them
they consider him part of their family. Julie works at First
Baptist Church in Princeton as the Children's Ministry
Coordinator.
Julie's passion is Uganda. Julie says she fell in love with the people of Uganda after taking her first mission trip there. She has a love for the people and a calling to work with the schools there. Julie has been to Uganda 6 times and even owns land there now! Her favorite verse is Isaiah 40:31 "but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.

Ross, Jessie
|
Jessie has lived in Illinois all her life. She married Ron, her high school sweetheart, and they are currently celebrating their 44th wedding anniversary. They had 6 children, 3 boys and 3 girls. Their middle son died from a brain tumor when he was almost 12. All 5 of their grown children now have families of their own, blessing Ron and Jessie with 16 grandkids. Both she and her husband enjoy traveling and hope to do more as soon as they retire. She works full time in the publishing industry on the newsstand side. Currently she is owned by an African grey, and a friend’s cat. She turned her life over to the Lord when she was 16 and He has filled her life with miracles, blessings, sisters and friends everywhere. Her favorite scripture is Proverbs 17:17a - A friend loves at all times.

Sarff, Sharon
|
Sharon is married to her wonderful husband, Paul and they
have two children, Bethany and Caleb. Sharon and Paul have been
married 28 years. Bethany is teaching in a Special
Education program in Streator, IL and
Caleb is still in elementary school. Sharon's biggest pet
peeve is when people refer to her as Caleb's grandma rather than
his mother. She runs a year round Christmas store in LaMoille
where they make hundreds of teddy bears each year. They also
do custom embroidery and a variety of other crafts. Sharon has
been on the SHINE team since 2005 and makes an awesome emcee.
She and Wanda Delong are sisters. Her favorite Bible verse is
Hebrew 10:24-25, "And let us consider how we may spur one
another on toward love and good deeds. Let us not give up
meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us
encourage one another-and all the more as you see the Day
approaching."

Strom, Deb
|
Deb married her husband, Brian in 1990 and they have three
amazing kids - Caleb, Michaela, and Kyra. Deb is currently a
stay-at-home mom and a substitute teacher. Deb and her
family live in Princeton where they serve at Christ Community
Church where Brian has been the Senior Pastor since 2003. Deb's
favorite Bible verse is Proverbs 3:5 & 6 "Trust in the Lord with
all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all
your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths
straight" She serves as SHINE's finance team leader. |

Yarger, Sherry |
Sherry
Yarger is a farm wife, married to Doug for 38 years. We live in
rural Galva and raise cattle, corn, and beans (and kids!!) We
have five children: Donovan (30), Andrew (25), Jennifer (20),
Julie (16), and Stephen (14). All five children are adopted and
if you want to know about the joys of adoption I would love to
talk to you. God had a great plan (as He always does) when I was
unable to conceive. We also have one absolutly wonderful
grandchild, Kaitlynn, she will be one year old October 21 (I
love being a grandma!!) I have worked on the farm the entire 38
years of our marriage, having no other job, but believe me farm
life is a full time job. My favorite bible verses are: Jeremiah 29:11 'I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.'and Proverbs 3:5-6 " Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding in all your ways acknowledge him and he will make your path straight.'
